Pomona Solar Co-op has 300 kilowatts of solar PV panels up and running in Herefordshire! Find out more on 5 July 2016.
The Directors would like to invite both members and non-members to come along on the evening of our 2016 AGM to take a look at the site (5.30pm), join us in Tarrington for drinks and a light buffet (6.30pm), and attend the AGM (7.15pm). You are welcome to take part in the whole evening, or just to pop along for a look or a drink and chat. Local residents are especially welcome.
While it’s not essential to register for the AGM, if you wish to join us for the site visit or drinks/buffet it would help us enormously if you could please register in advance here – where you’ll also find a map and all the other details of the event.
Pioneer share offer closed
We’re very pleased to announce that our pioneer share offer has closed, with the full £66,000 of shares now sold and in the process of being allocated. This enables us to progress with the project speedily – expect to see a further share offer early in the New Year and construction soon thereafter. Our thanks go out to our 40 fantastic pioneer members!
Pomona Pioneer Share offer gets to £50,000
We’re very pleased to say that the Pomona pioneer share offer is closing in on its target of £66,000 -we have just gone past the £50,000 mark. The grid connection has now been secured by a payment to Wester Power and we are working to complete the legal agreements on the site. That means we are on track to carry out the main share offer early in 2015 and install the panels shortly thereafter – hopefully in time to catch the first rays of Summer 2015.
Planning permission obtained
We’re very pleased to say we now have planning permission for our first installation, at Stoke Edith. You can see a copy on our downloads page.
Jonathan Porritt Supports Pomona’s Vision
We are delighted that Jonathan Porritt, leading environmentalist and writer, has recently lent his support to Pomona Solar and its vision for community owned solar arrays in Herefordshire:
“On my last visit to Herefordshire, I gave a talk in which I challenged the audience to make Herefordshire the leading solar county of the UK – and Pomona Solar Co-op is definitely part of the response to that challenge. PSC is aiming to install solar arrays (both ground-mounted and on roofs) in suitable locations across the county. This is all about low-carbon energy security for individuals, for communities and for the county as a whole, and I sincerely hope that everyone concerned about energy and climate change in Herefordshire will become a member and will help Pomona realise this ambitious and much-needed initiative.”
